Life on Guuranda (Yorke Peninsula is shaped by Elders, families, young people and community-controlled organisations working together to look after one another, keep culture strong and make decisions for our future.
Point Pearce Community
Point Pearce is the heart of the Narungga community on Guuranda and holds deep cultural, historical and family significance. It is home to many Narungga families and remains a place of strong kinship, cultural practice and connection to Country.
Our community includes Elders, parents, young people and children. Many families maintain strong intergenerational ties to Point Pearce, even when living or moving between regional towns and metropolitan areas.
Point Pearce continues to be an important cultural and community hub. It is a place where cultural knowledge is shared, community discussions and decisions take place and responsibilities to Country and one another are upheld.
Point Pearce Aboriginal Corporation (PPAC)
Point Pearce Aboriginal Corporation (PPAC) is the community-controlled organisation responsible for governance, housing, land management and service delivery within the Point Pearce community. PPAC plays a vital role in supporting residents, maintaining community infrastructure and representing community interests.
PPAC’s work includes:
- Community housing and tenancy management
- Local governance and community decision-making
- Maintenance of community facilities and assets
- Supporting community safety and wellbeing
- Working in partnership with Narungga Nation Aboriginal Corporation (NNAC) and other service providers.
Narungga Nation Aboriginal Corporation (NNAC) Membership
Narungga Nation Aboriginal Corporation (NNAC) is the Prescribed Body Corporate (PBC) for Narungga people. Membership is for Narungga people who are connected to Guuranda through traditional law, custom and descent.
NNAC Members may:
- Attend and vote at General Meetings
- Receive information about native title agreements and activities on Country
- Nominate or stand for leadership roles, subject to constitution
Membership processes are guided by NNAC’s Rule Book and cultural protocols.
